Alena Tarasova

Choreographer. Dancer.

BIOGRAPHY

Alena is a freelance dance artist working with both ballet and contemporary languages. She is inspired by the possibility of projecting emotions on the behavior of the body, the way the inner world of the dancer is read through his dance.

Her education background at Vaganova Academy and experience of working in New York and Europe gives her works a special texture which mixed on the interaction of two worlds, the legacy of the past and the innovation of the future.

Exile
A ballet about friendship in times of crisis. Both artists had to leave their homeland, both face an uncertain future in which friendship becomes the only home. The artistically extraordinary project lives from dance and song: The dancers combine their choreographic work with musical elements. The Rhaeto-Romanic singer Astrid Alexandre accompanies the evening with Rhaeto-Romanic and Ukrainian songs that tell of emigration and homesickness – a tentative bridge between cultures.

Sleep, my child, and know I’m here.

I’m far from home.

I run away from scorched earth, away from mouths full of ground,

where only white noise you can hear and people’s hearts are bleeding losses.

Sleep, my child. I’m here

with the strength my grandma taught me,

with all the Love my mother gave me.

Sleep, my child, and know

all this Love is fully yours.

And even if you’ll never be born, my baby, this love is my only hope

My Land
“My biggest wish is to get into a time machine, go to the caves in the near future to the people and say: “let’s start all over again”.
My Land is a fairy tale about people in the near future who had the chance to create a new world in some modest and well-decorated place, surrounded themselves by things they love, filled their memories with only good remembrances. They have no heritage, no responsibilities for the past. Their lives are good and calm, but there is the only problem. In that world the plants are noisy and in that noise you can hear all the stories about their predecessors, it always tells you human history from the beginning to the very end, there are memories about all the wars, all the crimes humanity was able to create.

Haunted House

...As a white stone in the well's cool deepness,
There lays in me one wonderful remembrance.
I am not able and don't want to miss this:
It is my torture and my utter gladness...
